Memory Tracks Ltd.
Project Title: MedTracks MedTracks is an innovative app that addresses the specific challenge theme of medication adherence. The novel approach uses music chosen by a user to create custom medication reminders Following the success of the first proof of concept in phase 1, it is hoped that the MedTracks team can continue to develop the app, co-designing new iterations with users and to carry out further research into the use of music as an effective aid to medication adherence.
Gordon Anderson, CEO, Memory Tracks.
“The opportunity to work with the North of Scotland Innovation Hub on our MedTracks app in Phase 1 of the Medicines and Dementia SBRI has really accelerated our understanding of how we can address the issue of medication adherence for at-risk groups. Phase 1 was a truly collaborative process that enabled us to access expertise across the health sector that would otherwise be too difficult to secure. Now successfully into Phase 2, the depth of collaboration across the team is even greater, and the access to NHS expertise over the entire development, validation and launch periods for MedTracks will ensure we deliver the best possible product for the target users.”
Lee Heaney, Innovation Manager, NHS Highland.
"Phase 1 of the MedTracks project went very well and we are really encouraged by the feedback we received from potential users. I look forward to working on the Phase 2 project with Gordon and the team at Memory Tracks."
Red Star
Project Title: Empowering the patient to tackle clinical and lifestyle risk factors for dementia with a focus on medication management. Phase 2 will build on Red Star’s Phase 1 development to co-design, in collaboration with Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland, a functionality on their healthcare platform application which will help to manage patient risk factors with a focus on medications but also looking at lifestyle factors. Users will be provided access to the app and can view their own healthcare data alongside information and support to help them modify their risk factors.
Andrew Conkie, Contractor’s Representative, Red Star
“Red Star is delighted to have been awarded funding from the Chief Scientist's Office to build a system that will help people manage their brain health in mid-life. It builds on a growing awareness that dementia can be prevented or delayed by managing cardiovascular risk factors, alongside a healthy lifestyle, taking care of your mental health, and keeping active and mentally stimulated. The system has been co-designed with pharmacists, GPs, Community Mental Health Teams, and members of the public. It will provide a single page dashboard of a patient's clinical history and risk factors - in particular cardiovascular risk factors - as well as a patient app giving citizens a view of their own clinical data and encouraging self-management of the factors known to influence brain health.”
