Overview

Background The Scottish Government is launching a Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) Open Innovation Competition via Innovate UK at the end of February 2023.

The Scottish Government Scottish Health and Industry Partnership (SHIP) are investing GBP 240,000 in support of this future challenge. The goal of innovation, service redesign and development of workforce initiatives is to deliver sustainable, accessible and equitable services which improve the quality of life of people at risk of dementia by identifying them earlier and slowing the time to full diagnosis.

This Open Innovation Challenge will provide an opportunity for companies, working in partnership with regional test beds to develop disruptive innovative solutions that focus on medicines and developing innovative new tools for use in clinical practice to support people at risk of developing dementia to manage their medications. The challenge is centred around mid-life management in people with risk-factors or early signs of dementia.

Innovation themes are:

  • Identification of people utilising clinical risk factors.

  • Adherence to medicines for conditions identified as being linked to the development of dementia
