The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme (CEP) will be welcoming applications for cohort 8, from the 2nd October 2023. We invite budding entrepreneurs from Scotland to apply for this ground-breaking programme that is helping bring innovations into the NHS to improve patient care.

It is truly amazing what can happen when you empower the NHS’ most valuable asset: its staff and encourage them to push beyond the bounds of possibility.” Professor Tony Young OBE, National Clinical Lead for Innovation NHS England; Professor of Entrepreneurship and Medical Innovation, Anglia Ruskin University

The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, delivered by Anglia Ruskin University and part of the Accelerated Access Collaborative (AAC), is the biggest entrepreneurial workforce development programme of its kind.

This year long programme is free and open to all NHS Scotland workforce. It provides learning, opportunities and experiences through which our entrepreneurs develop the commercial skills and knowledge to accelerate their innovations that will, in turn help transform patient care, as well as providing them with the entrepreneurial knowledge and experience that will help them in their day jobs. A dedicated programme on how to build a start-up or develop an intrapreneurial idea is delivered as a series of educational events called pit stops, which can be attended either in person or virtually.

Our inclusive programme and its diverse community create a space where NHS staff can develop their innovation or idea without having to leave the health service. The programme offers mentoring, bespoke commercial education, customer matching, resources, development tools and access to a community of likeminded individuals and industry experts.

In addition to this, Scottish applicants will have additional support from the Scottish coordination group which consists of representatives from the Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre, Scottish Government Chief Scientist Office, Scottish Enterprise, NHS Education Scotland and InnoScot Health. The coordination group will support the Scottish candidates in their innovation journey and help them to identify Scottish support while providing networking and collaboration opportunities into the wider Scottish innovation and entrepreneurial landscape.

"The strength of the programme is really in its network of likeminded people all working towards a common purpose to improve healthcare.” Dr Debbie Wake, CEO and Chief Medical Officer at My Way Digital Health and NHS Clinical Entrepreneur.

We are encouraging all NHS Scotland workforce staff, with a great idea, at any stage of development to apply for this exceptional opportunity - could this be you or someone you know?
